Our Plans
Transport and travel
Road access to Woodhall will be provided via three new junctions from B4084 Pershore Road. This will include dedicated access to the employment land, close to the M5 Junction 7, and two separate accesses to residential areas.
Pedestrian and cycle access will be provided onto Pershore Road, Woodbury Lane, and to Church Lane via the existing underpass.
At the centre of the site, next to the planned town centre, is the Worcestershire Parkway station which opened in 2020, with trains to Worcester, Bristol, London, Oxford, Gloucester, Cardiff, Nottingham and Birmingham – with more destinations such as Edinburgh set to come on board. New sustainable transport routes, including pedestrian and cycle links, will connect the wider neighbourhoods and provide easy travel routes to the station.
There is already the X50 bus route which travels along the north of the site on Pershore Road between Evesham and Worcester, taking in the railway station. The proposals include a strategy to provide new and improved bus services for the Woodhall neighbourhood, and a longer-term strategy for the wider settlement, so that future residents and employees are offered a range of travel choices.
The proposals also include an assessment of the impact of the Woodhall neighbourhood, and the wider new settlement, on the capacity of local junctions. All developers from the wider Worcestershire Parkway settlement hope to contribute to improve the M5 Junction 7 for better access for both new and existing residents and businesses.
As proposals for the wider new settlement evolve, this will be subject to further discussion with Worcestershire County Council and National Highways.
Improvements to transport networks
The proposals for Woodhall will include full details of measures to improve the existing road environment and provide facilities for active travel, potentially including:
- New, separated, pedestrian and cycle routes along Pershore Road
- Reducing the speed limit on Pershore Road from 40mph to 30mph
- Traffic calming measures on Woodbury Lane / Church Lane, potentially combined with a reduced speed limit (20mph) and more street lighting
- Traffic-free routes through the Woodhall neighbourhood connecting the employment and residential sites to the railway station, and towards the new town centre
- Providing a footway/cycleway to connect the Woodhall neighbourhood to the new Town Centre via Pershore Road, with traffic signals for safe crossing.
